EvergreenHealth Foundation is a tax exempt, non-profit organization dedicated to raising financial support for EvergreenHealth Medical Center.
In 1967, the citizens of Redmond, Bothell, Kirkland and Woodinville voted to create King County Public Hospital District #2, which would provide hospital services to this growing region of northeast King County. In 1972, Evergreen Hospital opened...a small, two-story building with just 76 beds.
From this beginning, a 275 bed hospital has emerged with a state-of-the art emergency department and specialty care in many areas including Cancer, Cardiac, Orthopedics, Maternity and Neuroscience. EvergreenHealth is also home to the only inpatient hospice center on the Eastside (the Gene & Irene Wockner Hospice Center), in addition to providing home hospice care for both King and Snohomish counties.
In 1991 the EvergreenHealth Foundation was established to raise philanthropic support for the Gene & Irene Wockner Hospice Center. However, in 1999, the Foundation expanded its mission and began raising philanthropic support for all of the departments and programs within the EvergreenHealth family of services.
The Foundation works with individuals, other foundations and corporations to:
Finance new programs and initiatives to expand healthcare on the Eastside
Acquire new equipment, helping EvergreenHealth remain on the cutting-edge of technology
Provide uncompensated care and community health outreach and wellness programs
Build new facilities for patient care and research.
